Marc Quinn

I like this piece of Marc Quinn. It's called "Giant Baby Boy". I like this piece because it is a huge baby that is balanced on his right hand. This sculpture is made out of bronze. I love the fact that this is such a huge piece of art that looks like it's weightless and looks like it is floating in the air. This sculpture is in Singapore in the "gardens by the bay". This is such a beautiful piece of art and it looks so fragile and delicate.

Isamu Noguchi

This piece is placed in New York City's Isamu Noguchi museum. I like this piece because it is very fragile and delicate. I myself have worked with clay and it is so hard to make it look fragile and soft. The circle is so smooth, and I love that it is balanced on one side of the circle on a platform. That circle is very heavy, it is amazing that Noguchi was able to balance the circle onto the platform on a very little area. It looks so delegate, it almost looks like the circle is hanging above the platform because of how little it is touching the platform.

I chose this sculpture because of its smooth details. The sculpture does reflect a pretty anatomical female who is posing as a gymnast. I like the facial feature he included and the realism. He proportioned this as real life

Marc Quinn is an artist that uses self- portrait of the artist, he uses his body as material. His sculptures are frozen silicone and ten pints of his own blood. I chose this sculpture because it looks very serious and stressed out and real.

Marc Quinn: Zombie Boy

Marc Quinn created Zombie boy in 2011 out of concrete. I chose this because I remember first seeing the real Zombie boy in a commercial for makeup coverage when I was young and always admired his individuality. Creating a tribute to Zombie Boy as Quinn put it, was to show the idea of how a person can become their own "mythological creature"(as Quinn stated he found incredibly interesting). Zombie Boy tragically died on August 1st, 2018 by accidentally falling from a third story balcony at the age of 32. He saw his body as a canvas and now thanks to Quinn, his legacy can forever live on.

The name of this sculpture is "Self" and is a self-portrait. He literally used his body as material, casting his head in frozen silicone. This sculpture use ten pints of his own blood. It was made at the time that Quinn was an alcoholic. This sculpture is remade every five years, to show the artist's aging and changing self.

This is Marc Quinn's "Zombie Boy". He did this sculpture in order to show how people want to change their biological bodies just like artists. This sculpture was made out of concrete. This is on display at the Science Museum in London. He did this sculpture by modeling Rick Genest, who got tattoos that illustrate the inside of his body.

Marc Quinn

Marc Quinn is a British artist who specializes in sculptures, installations, and painting. This piece titled "Spiral of the Galaxy" was made in 2013 and part of his exhibition at Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice. I chose this one because it is a common object that is made larger than life. Sea shells are usually very small and now he made one which is life size. I think it also goes well with the scenery at which it is located on the water

This sculpture by Marc Quinn is titled All of Nature Flows Through Us was completed in 2011. It is made out of cast bronze and it is featured in a river in Norway. At 32 feet tall, this piece surely makes a large statement to say the least. The element that I enjoyed the most about this sculpture is the fact that it interacts with nature; the water seeping out of the pupil of the eye adds a creepy but beautiful element to the piece. Even the title of the piece itself is very poetic. This piece is thought to be an expression of the theme of of inner nature and spirituality; I read it as speaking about the idea that humans and nature are interconnected everlastingly. I also thought that it seems to portray elements of surrealism.

Marc Quinn: Planet

This sculpture is “Planet” by Marc Quinn it is located at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. This was a solo exhibition done in 2013 the work depicts Quinn’s son as a sleeping baby. I loved how it appears the baby is hovering. When researching I learned that this is of Quinn’s first son who had a severe milk allergy. This “Planet” sculpture was commissioned by Chatsworth House and placed in the formal gardens. The work is 10 meters long and almost 4 meters high. Overall I just liked how different this sculpture was and how effortlessly it is floating.

This sculpture depicts the fashion model Kate Moss who became a media icon for our age. Presented in different yoga poses, the sculpture explores the idea of Moss as an abstraction, an idealised figure who is more of a cultural image than an actual person of flesh and blood. I like this particular sculpture because the color is a simple white and that way the sculpture can be interpreted in any way. Also the yoga poses was quite impressive considering her clothing of choice. This was created back in 2005. Also society is able to get question  the image itself as oppose to the person.

This is a Sculpture by Marc Quinn who is a British contemporary visual artist whose work includes sculpture, installation and painting.  Quinn explores 'what it is to be human in the world today' through subjects including the body, genetics, identity, environment and the media.  I had picked this amazing sculpture because of how unique and beautiful it is.  You can really see all of the time and work he had out into his sculpture and this one had stood out the most to me.

This sculpture known as Self-Conscious Gene was crated by Marc Quinn. This sculpture is a bronze 3.5 metre that will go on display in the Science Museum's new medicine galleries. It will be permanently displayed in fall 2019. I chose this piece because of the bronze shine it has and all the details. It is amazing the amount of little line work that was put into this thing. It almost looks like a human in robot form. This sculpture represented someone in real life known as Rick Genest (Zombie Boy). Genest pased away recently from a brain tumor he had since his teens. Since the diagnoses he wanted to celebrate his body by covering it will tattoos. I think this piece also shows sadness because of the head tilt downwards and the squinted eyes.

Marc Quinn is an English artist who is best known for his sculptures, paintings, and installations. In 1988, Quinn made thus sculpture named Young Dancer Summer of Love, which is part of the movement of Contemporary Art. This sculpture is made of bread and is casted in bronze. Bread sculptures are made from varying degrees, themes of eating, survival and ritual that are combined in expressive, figurative sculptures. Bread symbolizes metamorphosis because the bread materially transforms with heat from the basic ingredients of flour, yeast, and water.

The Sphinx was made in 2006 by Marc Quinn and his inspiration was model Kate Moss. He made a sculpture of her doing a yoga pose. The sculpture was made out of bronze and painted white. In 2008, Quinn decided to make this sculpture out of gold and it is now in a museum called Nereid Gallery.

I personal think this sculpture is very interesting and I like how he truly captured a moment.
