Textbooks, iron

Li Hongbo was a Chinese artist who was born and raised in China. Li Hongbo is best known for his interpretations of paper. His reinvention of the material's form challenges viewers’ expectations of the medium as an artistic vehicle. Using an age-old honeycomb technique seen in paper gourd making in China, Li creates kinetic paper works which can expand, contract, and retract. This particular sculpture titled textbook, iron defies people’s views on the medium paper. This sculpture was created in 2015, further showcased the artist interpretation of paper via the classroom.
