This is a sculpture of Louise Bourgeois, “Maman.” This
sculpture is made of bronze, stainless steel and marble. I found it interesting
how large this sculpture is measuring over 30 feet in height. The title means
mother in French. While researching
Bourgeois I found it interesting that this sculpture was made in homage to her
mother. She made this sculpture for her mother as she was loyal and always
loving her while her father was off doing other things. The sculpture contains
32 marble eggs in its abdomen and the thorax is made of ribbed bronze. Its located
in the Turbine Hall at London’s Tate Modern.
