The sculpture by Louise Bourgeois that I chose to write about is called Maman. Maman is a large spider sculpture made of bronze, stainless steel, and marble. The thorax and abdomen are made out of bronze but there is also a sac which contains 32 eggs which are made of marble. The title, Maman, means "mother" in French. Louise Bourgeois actually said that this sculpture was in tribute to her mother because, like a spider, her mother was also a weaver. This sculpture was created in 1999 and is located in the Tate Modern in the United Kingdom.
