Louise Bourgeois made this sculpture in 1999, but was casted in 2001. This sculpture is known as "Maman", there are a few other sculptures in different places that look exactly like this since it is a part of a series. The "Maman" is a giant spider, in fact it is over 25 feet tall. This giant spider is made out of bronze, marble, and stainless steel. I chose this sculpture because of the size. It is enormous and I could not imagine how she was able to sculpt this huge work of art. I do not know what I would do if that was a real spider. Even though it is a sculpture, it still freaks me out.
