Joan Miro
This piece is called "
Jeune fille s’évadant", which is translated into "girl escaping". He made this in 1967, it now stays in Paris. This piece influenced me by showing different objects into one that make a nice figure. The top piece is part if a water hydrant, that is a found object. I never would've thought to put that in a sculpture and make it into a female. The water hydrant is shown to be the woman's hair, almost as if it was up in a bun, or some type of up-do. I like how the face connects to the body with just one small thin piece, including the body to the legs. The way the legs are crossed, sitting down but not sitting on anything, also how she has heels on to show that it is a woman. I also really do like how he only used the three primary colors to paint the sculpture. It's different than most sculptures of women. The painting is called "woman dreaming of escape" which was made in 1945. 22yrs later and Miro made a "dream" into a reality of having the woman escape. They both have similar faces, with the yellow and red eye. Both of their shoes are heels to represent a female. The painting also has a pointy object on top of her head like the one that it in the sculpture. But besides those common things, I truly don't understand the painting, and why there are black dots and swirls above the female's head.
